Mastercam X Art Brings Efficiency and Speed to Artistic Relief Cutting
CNC Software announces the release of Mastercam X Art CAD/CAM
software. Built from the ground up, Mastercam X Art delivers artistic
relief design and cutting and includes new features like an improved
Art Manager, wrapping capabilities, new toolpaths, and much more.
Mastercam X Art
lets users quickly bring 2D sketches, clip art, photos, and CAD files
to life by crafting them on-screen and cutting them with easy,
specialized toolpaths. Users can quickly shape and change their model
on-screen until it looks the way they want it. Mastercam X Art
includes great visualization tools and instant editing features.
Mastercam X Art tracks your model step by step, allowing for quick and
easy modifications at any time.
Some new additions to Mastercam X Art include:
-
Art Manager - A new tab
located in the Operations Manager puts all the major Art commands
right at your fingertips and makes Art easier to use than ever before.
-
Wrapping - Mastercam X Art
lets you wrap your art around a cylinder and cut it. Specify your
cylinder dimensions and Mastercam X Art automatically creates an
unwrapped cylinder for you to create on.
-
Toolpaths - A new toolpath
includes roughing and finishing options for the Cylinder Milling
Spiral toolpath.
-
New Modeling Tools –
Mastercam X Art adds new tools to the wide variety of modeling
techniques in Art, including new “celtic weave’ creation and extremely
flexible texture generation.
Also new to Mastercam X Art
are surface generation speed improvements, surface quality
improvements, the ability to process large files, Art chaining, and
much more.

Watlow's New EHG SL10 Integrates Safety Limit and Temperature
Controller into a Heater
Watlow
announces the introduction of the EHG SL10 process controller and
safety limit, an integrated/adjustable agency recognized safety limit,
temperature controller and heater all in one system. The compact
design, inherent reliability and integrated limit functions make this
system a tremendous value.
Watlow developed
the EHG SL10 because customers wanted the ability to adjust a
controller's set point in the field. In addition, they were seeking
flexibility in upgrading the device without replacing the entire
system. Watlow's EHG SL10 system includes a compact temperature
controller, two thermocouple sensors, power switching device and alert
lights for at-temperature notification, power and an out-of-range
(high/low temperature) alert all connected to a heater.
The EHG
SL10 process controller and safety limit also features three modules -
display only, communications only or display and communications. The
display module allows for changes to the controller settings (set
point, alert setting, alert settings, on-off or PID control function),
while the communications module allows for remote monitoring and
adjustment of control settings.
This
new integrated temperature controller is ideal for foodservice, life
sciences, packaging and semiconductor applications.

Accu-Mold
Inc. Starts New Design Center of Excellence
AMBA member Accu-Mold Inc. of Portage, Michigan, announced the
start-up of a new division, the Design Center of Excellence, to meet
the needs of mold and tool shops for 3Dimensional Mold
Design and
Detailing. The goal of the Design Center of Excellence is to be a
resource for a variety of mold/tool manufacturing companies to help
them improve their time to market.
Brian Jackson will be heading up the Mold and Part design services
using the latest releases of Cimatron 3D software. Services include 3D
part designs that are more easily tooled and molded, mold design and
detailing along with support fixtures and gauges.
The Design Center of Excellence was stimulated by the new business
model for Tool and Die shops initiated by the State of Michigan and
The Center for Automotive Research. Tool shops that use similar
processes can achieve workload balance and increasing efficiency,
specialization and decreased costs to manufacture.

Esko, SolidWorks Team Up
Esko, the market leader in packaging pre-production solutions,
announced that it has entered into an Embedded Technology Distribution
Agreement with SolidWorks Corporation of Concord, MA, USA. The
agreement gives Esko access to SolidWorks technology as a data
translator for the import and export of native SolidWorks files. In
addition, the agreement supports the use of SolidWorks as a 3D
modeling application. Packaging designers are now able to work more
precisely and faster as product design and packaging design becomes an
integrated process.
ArtiosCAD 7.10,
the upcoming October release of Esko’s market leading structural
design software, will draw on SolidWorks technology to import and
export native SolidWorks files, creating a seamless workflow between
SolidWorks and ArtiosCAD. To illustrate the workflow possibilities,
consider a consumer product, like a mobile phone, that is created
using SolidWorks. With the new version of ArtiosCAD, the SolidWorks 3D
model of the phone can be imported directly into ArtiosCAD’s 3D
environment. In ArtiosCAD, users now can use a variety of tools to
“automagically” create packaging that uniquely fits the product.
Internal fitments, protection, and supports can be created using
cross-sections of the phone model. And, that entire assembly can then
be directly inserted into a folding carton that is automatically sized
to fit. Interactive 3D viewing and interactive application of graphics
elements can be executed with other Scope software tools. Operating
directly with the 3D model not only dramatically speeds up the
packaging development process; it also removes much of the manual
trial-and-error process to get packaging to fit correctly.
