Vero International Updates VISI-Series Software

Vero International, a leading provider of CAD/CAM solutions for the tooling industry, has updated its VISI-Series release 13.1.

The VISI-Series software offers a combination of applications including fully integrated surface and solid modeling, comprehensive 2D and 3D machining strategies with high speed routines, 2- and 4-axis EDM, and dedicated tools for plastic injection molds and progressive dies.

VISI-Series release 13.1 enhancements include:

  • Users will be able to create their own catalogues and libraries of parametrically driven die components that include machin-ing instructions for inclusion in designs. When a design is complete and the CAD file is sent to the machining depart-ment, the machining instructions can be extracted from the file for automatic NC programming of die plates and blocks in the CAM system – dramatically reducing NC programming time.

  • For mold makers and die makers, the machining module has been expanded to include 4-axis and 5-axis machining in addition to the currently integrated 3-axis machining capabilities. VISI-Modeling offers additional functionalities for surfaces management, new split plane relief application, and improved assembly manager.

Incoe Introduces DF Nozzle Series

The latest INCOE® innovation, the DF (Direct Flo), incorporates INCOE®’s advanced gating technology into the most sophisticated Hot Runner nozzles available. Six nozzle series are available in flow sizes of 3,5,8,12,18, and 25 mm, with lengths ranging from 60 to 1000mm. Each series has 13 standard gating configurations to choose from, giving incredible flexibility to our customers.

DF nozzle heaters have been specially developed to generate homogeneous and very precise temperatures throughout the nozzle and at the gate. An insulating shield on the outside of the heater is designed to reflect radiant heat away from the mold, thus increasing heater and mold cooling efficiency. Heater thermocouples can be replaced from the outside without nozzle disassembly.

The DF series nozzle was designed for flexability. Not only for processing an extremely wide range of resins, but also for the ways in which the nozzles may be used regardless of the designed layout of the mold.

Price Reductions for Dimension® BST and SST 3D Printers

The Dimension 3D Printing Group, a business unit of Stratasys, Inc., announced its Dimension® BST 3D printer will now sell for $18,900, and its Dimension® SST 3D printer will now sell for $24,900, both $6,000 and $5,000 less than their respective previous prices. The Dimension BST is the industry¹s first 3D printer to be priced less than $20,000, a significant milestone that enables a wider range of manufacturers, engineers and designers access to 3D printing technology.

Dimension BST and SST 3D printers build functional 3D prints from the bottom-up, one layer at a time. The software imports STL files and automatically slices and orients the part, creates necessary support structures and plots a precise deposition path for the 3D printer to follow. Whereas the Dimension BST requires users to manually remove support pieces, Dimension SST provides a cleanstation that quickly and easily removes soluble supports, thereby enabling "hands-free" 3D printing.
