ADDITIONAL PRODUCT NEWS An Addition to the Techni Shot Nozzle Range A nozzle size 60 has been added to Hasco’s Techni Shot hot runner nozzle range. With these nozzles, available both as mono nozzles for simple applications and for injection molding tools with hot runner distributors, immersion depths up to 300 mm can be achieved and medium-sized moldings up to approx. 1700 g shot weight per nozzle produced.
Special
emphasis has also been placed on maintenance
friendliness for this nozzle series. This can be ensured
through total replaceability
A design feature allows the heater and thermo-couple to be changed without removing the nozzle tip. This considerably reduces the work involved in maintenance. The nozzle is suitable for all material applications, particularly for technical and reinforced plastics. The adapted winding density of the heater and the favorable flow path of the melt to the injection point ensures an even temperature distribution and a homogeneous heat profile along the whole flow channel. Due to the optimal position of the Fe-CuNi thermo-couple at the nozzle tip and the titanium insulation, an accurate temperature regulation is achieved, allowing technical plastics with a narrow temperature window to be processed reliably. In addition, a variety of tried and tested tip geometries, materials and screw-on gate-chambers are available, enabling optimum heat conduction in the gate area to be combined with excellent resistance to abrasive wear even for high-grade filled plastics.
Announcing New IDES CostMate™ Injection Molding Part Cost Calculator
Most molders have their own quoting tool. CostMate™ can provide a quick double check to give a molder immediate feedback on the price they are quoting for a job. CostMate™ takes Profit Margin versus Markup into consideration. Additionally, it accurately determines the total amount of material required for the job given scrap, reject and regrind requirements. OEMs can benefit from CostMate™ because it provides immediate feedback on the probable price of a molded part. Within seconds, a number of what-ifs can be performed to get an indication of total part cost for any injection moldable component. Once information is input into CostMate™, a report is generated that displays the total price of material, overall machine costs, projected profit and suggested price to quote. CostMate™ now handles virtually any unit system allowing the user to input values in English or Metric. Currency is shown in US dollars; however CostMate™ will estimate quotes correctly with any currency. Start using CostMate™ on the web today.
PCT Launches Hot Runner Trading Service
The company known for hot runner parts, repair and service has established a web-based Hot Runner Trading Page where buyers and sellers of high quality used systems can come together. According to the company’s website, “Buyers have the opportunity to dramatically reduce their tooling costs by purchasing hot runners at a fraction of original cost.” The page allows the sale of the following products:
PCT is providing this service to our customers free of charge.
Mastercam X
Mill Delivers Speed, Power, and
CNC Software announces the
release of Mastercam X Mill, the next generation of its milling
software. Mastercam X Mill introduces significant new
Mastercam X’s new “finish pencil” strategy extends final “cleanup machining” to the whole part, delivering a remarkably clean piece. This new technique divides the part into logical machining segments, then automatically finishes and “cleans up” the part in a single toolpath. Machine Definition stores knowledge of your machine and control. You can now create toolpaths for all your machine types (Mill, Lathe, Router, and Wire) in one session of Mastercam, and the interface will change based on the type of machining. Based on the selected machine definition, Mastercam allows you to perform functions that are applicable only to that machine. Mastercam automatically checks toolpath compatibility if you have to move your work from one machine to another. Mastercam’s “backplot” function has been rewritten for the new release, making it faster than ever before. Backplot is a visual simulation of your toolpath before actual code is created. A slider bar is now present which allows you to view any area of concern, without having to watch the entire backplotting process from start to finish. Also, tools are now available for verifying toolpath information, time of cut, feeds and speeds, and more. Several additional milling enhancements are also featured.
Vantage X Rapid
Prototyping System Offers Stratasys says a new version of its popular FDM Vantage rapid prototyping systems, called the Vantage X, offers three more modeling material options and higher resolution than the previous base model, with a starting price of $99,000.
Besides the standard polycarbonate (PC) and ABS plastic, the Vantage X offers a PC-ABS blend, PC-ISO, and ABSi options. ABSi offers improvements over standard ABS, including finer feature detail and surface finish smoothness. PC-ABS combines the strength of PC with the flexibility of ABS. And PC-ISO is a medical-grade plastic that meets ISO 10993 and USP Class VI material requirements. The Vantage X can be ordered in either "A" or "P" configurations. The A configuration allows the use of ABS, ABSi, and PC-ABS. The P configuration allows the use of PC, PC-ISO, and PC-ABS. Material configuration options let users customize the machine to their specific application needs. Besides the new material options, the Vantage X offers a significant resolution upgrade for ABS, ABSi, and PC-ABS. The high resolution setting of 0.005 inch or "5 mil" (0.127 mm) gives users the option of excellent feature detail and surface finish smoothness in a thermoplastic part. *Starting price does not include costs such as modeling materials, installation, training, shipping, duties and import tax, warranty and service contract.
Synventive Valve Gate Cylinders Improve Ability
Synventive Molding Solutions
has developed two types of valve gate cylinders for hot runner systems
that feature a very large stroke as well as an optimized melt flow
channel, both greatly improving t This innovative system is suited to all types of long fiber processing, whether it be from pellets, master batch glass concentrates or direct, continuous fiber compounding, enabling the part designer and processor greater flexibility to optimize performance and lower cost. The valve gate cylinders - HYC 4018 and PNC 7518 - are suited to both hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The increased cross section and optimized edge design, in combination with the large melt flow channel, reduces stress at the gates by minimizing pressure therefore reducing shear. This allows greater fiber length retention as well as giving greater service life to the needle and nozzle, key factors in reducing operation costs. The valve gate cylinders are available with tapered or cylindrical shut-off, and feature all the proven advantages of these series, including:
Pocket-Size Gage
Measures and Compares Bales Mold Service has developed the Pocket SPI Mold Finish Guide, which will allow users to check a finish and compare it to SPI (Society of the Plastics Industry) scales. The guide also provides a cross-reference between the Roughness Average (RA) and the SPI scales, so it is easier to make comparisons and conversions. The gage has a 72 RC hard-finished surface that will retain exact finishes for years.
The Guide is priced at $189.95, plus shipping and handling.
