EMI Adds New Sizes of Manifolds

EMI has added a new line of manifolds. Features include larger diameter end ports as well as accessory ports for pressure or temperature gauges.

Manifolds are constructed of heavy gauge steel with threaded couplings welded in place. Each manifold is tested to 120 psi (water or coolant only). Pre-drilled mounting brackets are included for easy mounting to your mold platens or temperature controller. Manifolds can be modified to meet specific application requirements.

For those who wish to visually monitor water pressure or temperature, each manifold includes two 1/4" NPT accessory ports in each body segment.  These ports allow mounting of accessory pressure or temperature gages without reducing4 the manifold's port capacity.

Generous 1 1/2" end ports are larger than those on most manifolds, which helps to decrease cycle times by providing more efficient water distribution.

EXAflow presents Ringelflow and Maxiflow

Two new developments in gate insert technology open up new mold making perspectives. While the new Ringelflow gate insert (pictured at top of photo, above) deflects the melt by 270 deg. for gating inside the molding, the Maxiflow range of three insert types can be used to place the gating point above, below or in the mold parting line according to design needs.

This 270-degree deflection of Ringelflow to an interior gate location has specific benefits:

  • optimum solution to prevent jetting

  • no gate marks on visible external surfaces and bottom wall

  • ideal for fully rounded edges (e.g. toys, moldings with sealing edges and joints)

  • permits internal gating of 2-component moldings

The Maxiflow inserts are suitable for fairly flat moldings, as well as for products with a raised or recessed annular outer edge. In addition, the gating point may lie further away from the molding wall than it can with EXAflow’ s proven Konturflow inserts; it may even be located behind a rib. Maxiflow inserts are suitable for all plastics, even filled and reinforced or hard and brittle types, respectively. Designed for shot weights up to 1,200 g (with low- viscosity plastics), they can substitute tunnel gates with their associated design and manufacturing complexities such as gating to an auxiliary post, thus making molds simpler, faster and less expensive to build.

Gammaflux Enhances Hot Runner Temperature Control

Gammaflux L.P., the world's leading supplier of hot runner temperature control systems, has added the ability to adjust setpoint temperatures in 1/10 degree increments. This further increases molders' ability to control their hot runner process and is especially helpful in high-precision molding applications.

In order to control in 1/10 degree increments, the controller must "read", "think" and "report" in 1/10 degree increments. While Gammaflux Triangulated Control Technology® has always provided this performance, the new feature that allows operators to actually adjust the setpoint in 1/10 increments provides them with more control ability than any other temperature controller in the world; and is available in either degrees F or degrees C.

The TTC is available as a Panel Mount controller, which seamlessly integrates Gammaflux technology into any injection molding machine's control panel.

New version of MAGMASOFTÒ

The new version of MAGMA's casting simulation software, MAGMASOFTÒ 4.4, was recently introduced.  It includes an impressive collection of new features as well as possibilities to evaluate the simulation.

The completely new flow solver enables the user to analyze complex filling conditions, even for components with extremely thin walls.  New criteria for the evaluation of the filling behavior can indicate potential defects resulting from the fluid flow behavior.

Comprehensive information about the local heat balance for the tool can be created for the permanent mold casting process, which is important for the layout of cooling channels as well as for the thermal regulation of the die. This allows the optimization of the tool regarding productivity and die life time.

Using the module MAGMAlink the user can transfer MAGMASOFTÒ results to various FE-programs.  Hence, the quality of crash, life time, and performance analyses can significantly be improved.  It is now possible for the first time to import scanned CT (computer tomography) data into MAGMASOFTÒ and compare them with simulation results.
