Moldflow Communicator 1.1 Expands Analysis Capabilities 

Moldflow Corporation announced the release of Moldflow Communicator™1.1, a free software product that allows distributed product design and development teams to visualize, quantify and compare analysis results obtained from Moldflow software products.  

Moldflow Communicator 1.1 allow users to view more Moldflow analysis model and results information, which can be used to make critical decisions when optimizing part and mold designs before manufacturing. New features and enhancements include: 

  • Ability to import up to four times as many Moldflow Plastics Insight® (MPI®) results files

  • A new results query tool for displaying specific result values on any region of a part and an improved animation tool for viewing result plots dynamically

  • A new mesh statistics display for getting insight to the quality of analysis models and the accuracy of the analyses performed

  • Ability to view optical birefringence, design of experiments and molding window results

Moldflow Communicator 1.1 also supports files exported from MPI 6.1, which offers faster solution times, interfaces more easily with leading structural CAE products, and provides new analysis capabilities for optical lens applications.  

Moldflow Communicator 1.1 is free and available for download now to both Moldflow customers and non-customers.

Husky Ultra 350 Smallest of Valve Gate Systems 

Husky Injection Molding Systems has introduced the smallest of its valve gate systems, the Ultra 350, with a seal diameter of only 8 mm, a bore diameter of 16 mm, and a minimum nozzle spacing of 25.4 mm. Designed for ultra-compact, multi-cavity production of small parts, the Ultra 350 provides throughput of up to 30 g/sec for low viscosity resins. 

The small footprint of the new Ultra 350 allows direct access in the machine and uses a pneumatically actuated plunger style gate that is highly efficient in space-constrained, high-cavity applications. 

The Ultra 350 gate system joins a growing number of Husky components that target a wide range of high throughput applications. As with all Ultra nozzles, the 350 features UltraSeal technology for guaranteed leakproof performance for three years.

INCOE® DEG Edge Gate Systems 

For the production of most cylindrical tube type molded parts the mold design dictates a side or edge gate style nozzle. INCOE® has introduced DEG Edge Gate systems that incorporate design features taken from their proven DF product line. 

INCOE®'s Edge Gate nozzle also incorporates some of the new features from the new DF Gold nozzle series, including Twin Heater technology, coated tips for extended wear, and utilization of the Color Seal.

Polivalve Hot Runner System Improves Part Quality, Saves Money 

The Polivalve Multi-Use Valve Gate Hot Runner System from D-M-E helps molders overcome challenges associated with special shapes or multi-cavity parts where the volume of melt can differ significantly. The system, which will be on display this spring at Plast-Ex 2007 in Toronto, is ideal for small- and large-part applications where a high-quality surface finish is important.  

The system enables easy injection flow in simultaneous or sequential filling to create parts with unusual, complex or hard-to-fill geometries or varying volumes. It also allows processors to mold multiple parts in different shapes and sizes, all in one cycle.  

Polivalve features a bodiless tip, perfect for applications requiring excellent appearance and zero-gate vestige, reducing overall cost by eliminating the need for secondary trimming operations.   

The hot runner systems are available in a comprehensive range of sizes, and with hydraulic or pneumatic activation. Both the standard “Hot-Half” and Simplicity “Drop-In” systems feature a wide variety of nozzles. The Simplicity “Drop-In” systems are supplied ready for installation.

PRIAMUS Monitor now for Rotary Table Applications 

PRIAMUS Monitor is a widely spread and easy to use data acquisition system for the intelligent monitoring and control of the injection molding process.  

As a new function the system provides monitoring options for rotary table molds by which all measuring signals can be assigned to different groups. The monitoring of the single mold halves is controlled by digital input signals. The sensors for process monitoring can be installed either in both mold halves or in one mold half only. This way only those sensors are being monitored which are actually involved in the molding process for example at 2-component processes or at the molding around inserts.  

Additional benefits of the system include:

  • The option for automatic switchover to holding pressure with the help of cavity temperature sensors which compensates for viscosity variations during manufacturing

  • Automatic opening and closing of valve gates in sequential molding depending on the melt front position

  • Bad parts are detected within 500 Microseconds, real time, and rejected depending on adjustable logic setups

  • Separate output signals for good parts and for bad parts for further processing.

With PRIAMUS Shop Floor Control the system can be networked throughout the plant so that all monitoring data are saved on a central server and displayed on a hall monitor.
