Minicores Efficiently Mold Mini Threads, Undercuts

Roehr Tool Corporation’s Minicore® broadens the applications for molding parts with internal details such as threads and undercuts by utilizing the existing mechanical mold base functions to operate, thereby eliminating the need for costly unscrewing devices such as racks, pinions, cylinders and more.

The Minicore makes it possible to mold closures as small as 10mm, using collapsible core technology. Up to 70% full threads or undercuts can be molded and Roehr Tool’s design is such that the threads may stop at any point along the molded length, unlike unscrewing style tooling. Longer threaded areas may be molded without adding to cycle times.

Every Minicore is manufactured from high quality, certified tool steel and heat treated under strict specifications to ensure reliable performance. The Minicore unit has three collapsing segments that collapse under their own spring force, allowing clearance for part ejection. In the closed molding position, the precision fit between each segment permits flash-free molding.

Moldex3D eDesign Verifies Design Quality

The Moldex3D/eDesign suite of software helps to quickly check the manufacturability of injection molded plastic part design. With intelligent eDesign meshing engine and best-in-class 3D technology, users can work directly through solid CAD model to true 3D simulations and save mass working-hours in mesh preparation. Easy-to-use user interface minimizes the efforts in training and learning. Interactive result displaying helps users to quickly check and optimize design.

Moldex3D/eDesign is equipped with the same 3D technology as Moldex3D/Solid. Based on this technology, users can perform true 3D simulations on very thick parts as well as those that have extreme changes from thin to thick. In addition, Moldex3D/eDesign has been developed with parallel computing technology in mind, too. With high-performance parallelized computing kernel, users can perform analyses in much less time on complex models than ever before.

Moldex3D/eDesign is able to fulfill complete analyses for thermoplastic injection molding, including the plastics filling and packing, mold cooling, fiber orientation, and part warpage. It allows users to simulate plastic flow through cavity, optimize gate locations, prevent short shot and weld lines, evaluate cooling circuit design, minimize cycle time, reduce warpage, etc.  Moldex3D/eDesign's optional module can also simulate reactive injection molding (RIM).

Alliance Laser Sales Brings FLEXX to the U.S.

Alliance Laser Sales has partnered with Vision, GmbH, a leader in laser engineering, to bring the latest in laser welding machines and accessories to the U.S.

Most recently, Alliance introduced the U.S. mold industry to the LWI IV FLEXX Workstation, considered the gold standard of laser welding machines.  Whether a project requires standard solutions or individually specialized configuration, single component or series production, the LWI IV FLEXX will meet all mold repair needs.

Also available is the Vision Ultra FLEXX, a mobile mold repair laser welding system.  For the first time ever, mold repair can be accomplished on site at a height of up to 10 feet without the need for a crane or other machinery, and all without the hassle of taking the machine apart.
