UGS PLM Software Ships Velocity Series’ Solid Edge V20 

UGS PLM Software, a division of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, announced that Version 20 of UGS Solid Edge™ software is shipping to customers worldwide. UGS PLM Software is shipping the English version of UGS Solid Edge Version 20 and will ship nine additional languages throughout the coming 10 weeks. 

UGS Solid Edge software is a powerful hybrid 2D/3D design system and a core component of the UGS Velocity Series™ portfolio that enables manufacturing companies to achieve competitive advantage through cost reduction while increasing top-line revenues.  

Solid Edge V20 features more than 170 enhancements, including:  

• Plant equipment and massive assembly design through zones, component replication and drawing review mode.

• Design collaboration to support PLM across the value chain through new service-oriented architecture (SOA) architecture, structure editor and assembly auto-constrain.

• Productivity improvements through Goal Seeking and tabulated drawings.

D-M-E Offers New Valve Gate Controllers  

D-M-E Company introduces two new valve gate controllers. The VCTH-4000 and -8000 are both available for hydraulic valve operation, providing reliable, accurate and highly efficient valve gate sequencing control that saves processors money. The VCTB-4000 is a four-zone, pneumatic controller that can be used with valve assembly VCAP-0400. 

These controllers use solid-state timers and relays with a life rating of 10 million cycles—100 times more durable than competitors’ life rating of 100,000 cycles. At three shots a minute, operating around the clock, a new VCTH controller will run for approximately six years, far beyond the mere 23 days that a controller with a 100,000-cycle rating will last at the same output. 

D-M-E’s valve gate controllers are equipped with solid-state timers that provide resolution to 0.01 second, far exceeding the industry standard of 0.10 second. This precision makes them perfect for small-part production that requires exact material flow into the mold.

The VCTH units pump during just a small fraction of the time they are operating, saving thousands of dollars in energy costs over the life of the unit. The accumulator-based, air-driven pumps tap into existing air compressors found in most shops, making installation and operation easy and affordable. The accumulator stores pre-charged oil even when the pump isn’t running, allowing for instantaneous operation when valve gate position changes are necessary.

Husky to Unveil New Hot Runner Technologies at K-2007 

Husky Injection Molding Systems announced the complete line-up of hot runner and tooling solutions it will introduce at K-2007 in Dusseldorf. They will be a critical part of the full range of innovative products and services Husky will present at the show. Husky will be located in Hall 13 at stand A59. 

New products featured will include: 

• An expanded Ultra 350 nozzle product line will be introduced, with valve gate and hot tip options available.

• The patented UltraFlow valve gate tip design provides superior melt homogeneity for a high quality surface finish that is free of flow lines, as well as the fastest possible color change.

• Ultra 500 valve gate for high pressure molding

• New back-to-back Ultra 500 and 750 valve gate options will offer shut height of less than 195 mm for configurations up to 2 x 8-drops.

• Altanium controllers with increased functionality and new features to improve ease of use.
