Progressive Components Advances Parting Line Control

Progressive’s new Friction Puller advances parting line control by improving mold life cycle and performance over other methods.

Unique features not found with competitors’ models include:

  • Internal venting  - no extra through holes and no additional machining in the back of the mold is required

  • Self-locating – designed to
allow the resin assemblies to self located even if plates shift due to thermal expansion or machining variables.

“Our Friction Pullers have been tested in the field and proven to function smoothly, with limited adjustment, even after a million cycles,” said Todd Steinhoff, U.S. Sales Manager.  “That kind of durability, combined with our exclusive venting and self-centering features, proves out this product’s value to the customer.”

Four sizes of the Friction Puller are available, off-the-shelf, every day.

RJG Introduces New Press Fit Temperature Sensor

RJG developed its new Press Fit Cavity Temperature Sensor as a tool to analyze temperature variation inside the actual mold cavity. These sensors work in conjunction with RJG’s eDARTTM Process Control System to assist molders in diagnosing processing problems relating to temperature issues.

The press-fit cavity temperature sensor is simple to install by drilling a small hole for the wire, and a flat bottomed pocket with the tolerance necessary to press fit the device in from the cavity face. Locate the sensors near areas where short shots, dimensional errors or warp are likely to occur. Placing sensors in different areas of the part can show problems with non-uniform cooling.

Press Fit Cavity Temperature Sensor features include:

  • Type K thermocouple

  • Sensors can withstand cavity pressures up to 30,000 psi

  • Teflon wire coating allows sensors to work in molds up to 400 °F

  • 1 mS response time to see a 1-2°C temperature rise

D-M-E Debuts Quick Strip

D-M-E recently launched a new and innovative solution for the ejection of products: "Quick Strip".

This idea was conceived by a reputed mold maker. In order to be able to offer a competitive product, he devised a system that will save up to 50% on mold costs and can be used with about 15% of all applications.

The Quick Strip eliminates the need for ejector plates. It is also possible to install an improved mold-cooling system where ejection pins were creating obstacles in the past. Furthermore, savings are made on cycle time by the elimination of the ejection stroke. And, in addition, there is also the cosmetic advantage – no marks of the ejection pins on the product.

D-M-E offers it in 3 standard sizes that are available off the shelf.
