Moldex3D 9.0 Improves 3D Solid Model Analysis 

Moldex3D eDesign from EPS FloTek allows the average Mold and Part designer to create and run full 3D solid element analysis with little or no training.   

The new fully automatic 3D mesh generator allows the user to not only create 3D solid mesh models, the program automatically optimizes the mesh quality through the thickness of the walls to insure good mesh resolution through any wall thickness.  In addition, automatically crates full 3D solid element runner geometry using the center lines you create.  Any model (STL) can be ready to run in less then 15 minutes.

Stratasys Introduces High-Performance Prototyping & Production System with Entry-Level Price  

Stratasys introduced a new additive fabrication system for prototyping and direct digital manufacturing applications. The FDM 360mc™ was unveiled at the Medical Design & Manufacturing Show in Anaheim. 

The FDM 360mc was designed for users with demanding applications that require the same accuracy, repeatability, and material specifications of more expensive FDM systems but who don’t need as much speed or as many features. 

The performance of the FDM 360mc is the result of technology innovation and manufacturing process improvements in the extrusion head gantry, which enabled it to be straighter and stiffer. This enables the extrusion head to hold a tighter positional accuracy that can produce parts with a higher tolerance. These innovations were introduced last August on the FDM 400mc. 

The FDM 360mc builds with ABS-M30. ABS-M30 mechanical properties for strength are up to 67 percent stronger than standard Stratasys ABS, expanding capabilities for functional testing or building production parts. 

D-Cubed 2D DCM Powers IMSI/Design’s IDX Variable Constraint System Plug-in for AutoCAD  

Siemens PLM Software and IMSI/Design LLC announced that the D‑Cubed™ 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM) parametric design engine has been integrated and released in IMSI/Design’s IDX Variable Constraint System plug-in for AutoCAD^® software. 

“This is a game-changing plug-in for AutoCAD users,” said Bob Mayer, chief operating officer at IMSI/Design. “The 2D DCM technology we're using from Siemens PLM Software is the same parametric design engine behind most of the world’s major CAD systems, and is highly compatible with the AutoCAD ObjectARX programming environment. It is the ideal foundation for this much needed parametric plug-in to AutoCAD.” 

The IDX Variable Constraint System plug-in brings the benefits of 2D DCM based parametric design to AutoCAD users. Compatible with existing models and working practices, users simply choose if and when they want to take advantage of the parametric design approach. Design intent can now be built into an AutoCAD model, enabling variations to be rapidly evaluated. Furthermore, part families can be created faster, entire drawings updated more quickly after red-line comments require changes, and kinematic mechanisms designed and animated.  

D-M-E Introduces the Polimax Hot Sprue Bushing 

D-M-E Company introduced the newest addition to its line of hot sprue bushings and tips, the Polimax Hot Sprue Bushing. The Polimax offers high-performance capability with both engineering-grade and commodity-grade resins. 

Polimax is designed specifically for direct part gating in single cavity molds and offers 15 standard bushings for commodity materials and 15 high performance bushings with head heater for engineering grade materials. With all-metric hard dimensions, Polimax supports global standards making it more compatible for customers operating out of multiple international locations. 

The Polimax features standard and wear resistant tips in three styles: sprue gate providing low flow resistance with excellent flow rates, ring gate featuring a sealed tip for efficient shut-off at the part surface and point gate suitable for high viscosity resins, engineering plastics and applications with strict cosmetic requirements.  

Other features include precise thermal control, lengths up to 185mm, four locating ring options and flow channel sizes from 8mm to 12mm.
