CCE’s EnSuite Delivers Support for Point Cloud Files

CCE has announced that EnSuite Version 2 – its multi-CAD viewing, translation and productivity software – has been upgraded to support point cloud files. EnSuite Version 2 can be used to import point cloud files in .xyz and .csv files that are typically produced on a coordinate measuring machine (CMM), laser scanner, or other inspection equipment.

Point clouds imported into EnSuite can be graphically compared against a CAD model. EnSuite produces a color error map of the point cloud vs. the CAD model by displaying the differences between the two in a range of colors. Color-coding greatly reduces the time required to identify and understand differences and evaluate their seriousness. For example, if a boss is too long or too short, the top of the boss will be highlighted in red.

The point cloud feature of EnSuite is particularly useful to quality assurance engineers. EnSuite provides seamless interoperability with CATIA V4, CATIA V5, Pro/ENGINEER, Unigraphics, and SolidWorks CAD systems as well as Parasolid, IGES and STEP files. Files can be translated to and from any of these formats without the native CAD software.

New Internally Heated Molding Machine Nozzles
from MDI

Melt Design, Inc. (MDI) announced the newest addition to its patented Equatemp® hot runner nozzle line, Internally Heated Molding Machine Nozzles, at ANTEC.

Built to the specifications of the molding machine, the Nozzles offer high performance with finite temperature control while they resist burning out and, unlike others, they eliminate external heater wire damage during use and maintenance.

Some key features of these unique Nozzles include:

  • Internally Heated – Similar to MDI’s popular hot runner systems, the heaters on these new Nozzles are encapsulated within the Nozzle body

  • Ceramic Insulated Resistance Wire – Compacted to ensure the highest heat transfer rate, resulting in longer heater life

  • Thermocouple Well – Removable thermocouple is located closest to the tip for accurate temperature reading

  • Steel Nozzle Body – Made from H-13 heat-treated tool steel for optimum durability

Panos Trakas, president of MDI, said, “With this nozzle, the temperature of the molded material is perfectly controlled because the thermocouple is placed at the tip, and this ensures flawlessly molded parts.”  Trakas is so confident of the quality and performance of his American-made nozzles that the company is offering a 60-day trial to new customers.  A variety of lengths is available.

PFA's KOR-LOK™ More Than a Locking Cylinder

PFA's KOR-LOK™ Side-Action Systems are sometimes imprecisely called locking cylinders, yet they are really much more. Locking Cylinders typically simply interrupt rod motion with a lock or clamp and do not provide the critical output force (force intensification and ulitmate core preload) needed for Zero Flash injection molding and die casting.

PFA's KOR-LOK™ Side-Action Systems are specifically designed to outperform these locking cylinders by creating 10x the power of a standard cylinder at end of stroke to preload the core above the injection force and then lock that force in place.

D-M-E Expands its Line of Hoist Rings

D-M-E Company line of hoist rings has expanded to encompass eight different groups of lifting products covering all hoisting needs for molds, tools and dies.

The new additions include small and compact units with very high lifting capabilities and a stainless steel version ideal for clean-room environments.  Another introduction is the TSR-type ring that prevents hooks from scraping tools when in traction at 90-degrees. The new SEB-type is ideal for multipurpose use, and the DSP-type is equally effective with ropes and small hooks.

All D-M-E hoisting products have a safety factor of five times the rated load, exceeding European regulations of four times. The hoist ring line features pivots and swivels to compensate for pitch, roll and sway when lifting heavy or unbalanced loads and are made with high strength alloy steel with minimum tensile strength of 1.250 MPa (125 kg/mm2).

Every D-M-E lifting product is proven compliant and is supplied with CE Declaration of Conformity. For worldwide use, metric and UNC thread-types are available.
