New Solution for Direct Side Gating in Medical and Packaging Apps 

The new HPS III-MH nozzle from EWIKON is designed for demanding applications in the medical or packaging industry and allows gating with a heat conductive tip insert directly onto the parts surface.  This avoids cold slugs in the gate and guarantees a high quality gate vestige.

In the conception stage, EWIKON engineers focused on the most economic integration into the mold as well as easy maintenance. The result is a completely new installation system for the tip inserts. This allows for easy integration in a standard one-piece mold insert and therefore a cost-efficient mold design. The tip inserts are installed from the parting line of the mold in the last assembly step after the nozzle body and the manifold have been installed. Thus, if required they can be exchanged easily without having to dismantle the mold.

The HPS III-MH nozzle is available in two versions.  The radial version allows for gating of up to 8 parts simultaneously.  The linear version has two rows of four tips with a minimum distance of 11 mm between the cavities.  For example, an inline arrangement of three linear nozzles gives 24-drop gating in two rows with a length of less than 180 mm.

Purging Compound for Hot Runners

  • H Formulation – used for engineered resins. Operating Temperature: 374° - 608°F. PS, PA, PC, ABS, SAN, TPE,
    TPU PMMA, PBT, etc.

  • L Formulation – used for low temperature engineered resins. Operating Temperature: 284° - 500°F. PS,
    PVC, POM, etc.

  • P Formulation – used with polyolefin type resins.
    Operating Temperature: 338° - 572°F. PP, PE, TPO,H DPE, LDPE, LLDPE.

  • A Formulation – a lower cost all purpose purging compound. Operating Temperature: 374° - 608°F. All Purpose Grad.

HASCO Safety Coupling Now with Angled
Hose Connections

The new safety coupling from HASCO features a safety release operated by a bayonet-type mount to prevent unintentional decoupling of the cooling system.  This product is also compatible with the classic HASCO cooling system. 

Additional to the safety aspect, this new coupling is ideal for clean room applications, because leakages can be avoided. Z80700/... complies with the very highest requirements.  

The new couplings, which are angled at 90° and 45°, are exclusively available with a connecting thread in the nominal diameters of 9 and 13 mm.  They lower the risk of damage to the hose at the connection points because the buckling stress is significantly reduced.  The couplings are suitable for use with oil, water and air.  

HASCO offers double safety with a combination of the couplings with the ready-to-assemble hydraulically pressed PTFE hose system Z856/...  This hose is available either in a smooth version for long distances between the cooling unit and the injection molding tool, or as corrugated hose for short flexible connections.

Viscosity Monitoring in the Mold  

PRIAMUS now offers viscosity detection within the mold cavity as an easy, cost efficient and automatic method where, cycle by cycle, viscosity values are detected, documented and monitored.  During the injection process, the rise of the pressure signal and the temperature signal is being automatically detected and analyzed for the viscosity evaluation. In answer to customer demand all PRIAMUS software products now offer option of automatically determining not only one, but several viscosities, shear rates and shear stresses in one injection mold.  For the reference value either the melt temperature or the cavity temperature can be measured or else they can be manually entered. 

Viscosities can be monitored in each single cavity of a multi cavity mold or in different sections of a large part.  In this way real viscosity deviations can be detected on the spot - in contrast to indirect characteristics determined by machine parameters such as the flow figures or the injection work.
