Mastercam for Solidworks to Debut

CNC Software, Inc. will roll out its newest product in the Mastercam CAD/CAM software suite – Mastercam for SolidWorks, at Westec 2009.  The event will be held at the Los Angeles Conven-tion Center in Los Angeles, CA, March 30 – April 2.

Mastercam for SolidWorks is fully integrated CAM that runs seamlessly in SolidWorks. SolidWorks users can now program their parts directly within SolidWorks using Mastercam’s industry-leading toolpaths and machining strategies.

Mastercam for SolidWorks includes a suite of cutting strategies, including Feature Based Machining (FBM) and 3D High Speed Machining toolpaths. High speed machining promotes longer tool life, faster machining time, and precision cutting by creating smooth cuts that eliminate dangerous sharp moves. Mastercam for SolidWorks also delivers a powerful set of automated cleanup toolpaths, letting you get parts off the machine faster and with little or no handwork.

Mold-Masters Takes Electric Valve Gating to
Next Level

Compared to conventional pneumatic systems and other competitive electric valve gate systems, Mold-Masters’ new proprietary electric valve gate has a very high closing force - almost two times higher than pneumatic actuators. The unique design of the actuator allows for pin movement in less than 0.1 second and overall molding cycles below 1 second. EVG is up to 90% more energy efficient than traditional actuators for valve gates and is ideally suited to cleanroom applications as it produces almost no particulate pollution. In addition to the energy savings, plate costs are reduced on EVG systems because there is no requirement for gun-drilling of air or hydraulic channels, plugging of the gun-drilled lines, or need for water/hydraulic fittings. The EVG system is standardized and modular in design so it can easily be removed and used on future molds.

The simple touch screen Electric Valve Gate (EVG) controller now allows the molder the ability to easily sequence the valve gates or shut-off a given cavity without altering tip heats - something that is not possible on fluid based systems that are co-joined by gun-drilled lines.
