New EWIKON Hot Runner Nozzle for
Direct Side Gating  

EWIKON Hotrunner Systems introduces a new and unique solution to hot tip edge gating of small parts in compact multi cavity molds.  Available in linear or radial configuration, the HPS III-MH nozzle is designed for demanding applications in the medical and packaging industry.  Both configurations are suitable for side gating applications such as syringes, pipettes and sample bulbs or closures, spray caps and other related products in the packaging market.   

The MH Multi-tip Hot Tip Edge Gate Nozzle uses a heat conductive tip insert to gate directly onto the part surface. This avoids cold slugs in the gate and guarantees a high quality gate vestige.  

EWIKON’s new MH edge gate is designed to achieve the most economical mold design while providing ease of installation and maintenance. The result is a 90º edge gate nozzle that may be installed in a mold without the need to have split inserts and having parting line serviceable tips. The tip inserts are installed from the parting line of the mold in the last assembly step after the nozzle body and the manifold have been installed. They can be easily exchanged or replaced with blank tips enabling cavity shut down. The tips seal off with the main body of the nozzle to develop a sealing force capable of handling in excess of 28,000 PSI. 

CNC Software Unveils Mastercam X4 

CNC Software announces the release of Mastercam X4, which offers expanded machining flexibility and an increased emphasis on speed and automation with a suite of new toolpaths, multi-threading ability, and more. Key new features include: 

• Dynamic Machining – This new machining technique creates an active toolpath that delivers more consistent cutting conditions and allows use of the entire tool flute length, saving both time and money.  

• Multi-Threading – Mastercam Mill delivers multi-threading support, dividing complex tasks in a multi-core computer, and delivering faster processing and other benefits. You have the option to turn this on or off. When used in a single-core environment, multi-threading allows users to multi-task, prioritize running and pending tasks, and monitor the progress of toolpath calculation, which increases productivity.  

• Mastercam® for SolidWorks® – Mastercam for SolidWorks is fully integrated CAM that runs seamlessly in SolidWorks. SolidWorks users can now program their parts directly within SolidWorks using Mastercam’s industry-leading toolpaths and machining strategies.
