ADDITIONAL PRODUCT NEWS
The TolTec Microimage Measurer from Gesswein verifies the accuracy of mold measurements during the mold making process while the mold is still in place on the EDM or milling machine, helping boost your productivity. It eliminates the time-consuming, error-prone routine of having to remove, measure and relocate the mold, allowing you to check tolerances on the fly with ease. The TolTec Microimage Measurer also minimizes costly mistakes often caused by inexact mold repositioning. Accurate measure-ments are taken and recorded from the machine’s CNC controller.
Today there are a variety of ways to control the melt front in hotrunner molds. At times, especially with slow acting hotrunner systems, an adjust-ment of the nozzle temperatures is not efficient to achieve a balanced cavity condition. For such situations an add-itional control algorithm has been added to the Priamus Fill system in order to control the melt flow alternatively by the shot-off nozzles. The different flow behavior of the individual cavities is compensated by automatically adjusting the delay time to open the nozzles. This new procedure allows, for example, to balance and control liquid silicone applications which are becoming more and more important in injection molding. Unlike traditional thermoplastic injection molding, the liquid silicone process experiences even more prominent flow differences that have to be balanced. The new procedure optimizes the process automatically and prevents the liquid silicone parts from reacting under different conditions, which leads inevitably to different parts.
New Range of Mini Tunnel Gate Inserts from DMS
Such parts are required to an ever increasing extent, for example, in the automotive industry, in the electrotechnical and electronics industries and in the medical devices industry. The various versions of these mini tunnel gate inserts are particularly suitable for multi-cavity molds. They afford the processor the advantages of side or bottom gating and of reducing the distances between the cavities. The result is a smaller, less costly mold that can then be mounted on a smaller machine with reduced hourly costs. Moreover, sprue waste is minimized through the extremely low channel volume. In cases where the mold has a very large number of cavities, a further reduction in sprue waste can be achieved in conjunction with a common hot runner with each hot runner nozzle feeding several tunnel gate inserts. The new mini inserts are basically suitable for all thermoplastic polymers, even if filled, reinforced or flame-proofed, and for all thermoplastic elastomers. Some of them are contourable and hence adaptable to specific mold technologies and configurations. Like the larger types, these mini inserts come in a choice of two hardness grades: U (40 HRC) and H (60 HRC); the SGC-XS and SGC-S inserts have a hardness grade of 54 HRC. The TGR6, TGR8 and TGS8 mini inserts are available optionally with a machining allowance of up to 0.6 mm (Version 51) or with a conical vestige (Version S2).
DMS Offers Color, High Res Mold Plaques
These plaques, which are industry proven thermal set graphics, will save engineering time and money. The simplified data transfer is in a jpeg format, 300 DPI files are available options. Simply dimension the part in any color combination and email to DMS. These plaques are cost competitive, protective coated and field tested, with a quick delivery supported by experienced technical support. In addition, DMS will be selling supportive ID tags, asset tags and Die tags, as well as other industry related information plaques.
Autodesk Ships 2010 Software Portfolio
Autodesk Moldflow 2010 software now includes an energy usage indicator so designers can further decrease manufacturing energy requirements, and with access to the world's largest plastic materials database of its kind, easily evaluate different materials and make product design choices that can contribute to sustainability initiatives. In addition, Autodesk has enhanced sustainable design and engineering functionality across the product portfolio. In its Digital Prototyping solution for manufacturers, the new assembly stress analysis and motion simulation tools in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2010 help users simulate and optimize their designs early in the process -- reducing both material waste and cost.
