ESAB Introduces A2-A6 Process Controller for Automated Welding Systems

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products introduces the A2-A6 Process Controller PEK system. This controller is adapted for use with ESAB’s automatic power sources LAF 631/1001/1251/1601 and TAF 801/1251 and can be used for submerged arc welding, GMAW welding and arc gouging. The control system is connected to the power source via a control cable and incorporates a CAN bus system for data transfer.

The system is designed for ease of use with a clear text menu and a large display to keep the user informed about main parameters such as current, voltage and travel speed. Manual control keys for wire feed and travel direction allow fast access to frequently used settings. Turn knobs allow easy adjustment of wire feed speed, voltage and travel speed during the process.

The welder can pre-set welding parameters by selecting them and turning the setting knob. Up to 255 different parameter sets, including secondary conditions, can be stored and used during the welding process.

Cold-Deck™ Systems to Be Produced in
North America

Process & Design Technologies LLC, has joined forces with KALD Tool & Die Corporation to address the challenges of silicone molding.

The intent is to provide silicone molders with the advantages of a North American sourced Cold-Deck™ system along with key features and benefits resulting from engineering and moldmaking input.

Terry L. Schwenk, principal for Process & Design Technologies LLC, characterizes silicone molding in North America as an emerging market with tremendous growth potential. The Silicone molding industry has expressed a need for a reliable and easy to use Cold-Deck system produced in North America.

Dave Braden and Paul Siodlarz, the principals at KALD, are not novices to silicone molds and molding and have been producing and repairing flash-free, complex silicone molds for over a decade. They reiterate the same comments from their customers concerning Cold-Deck systems.

A functional, valve-gated test unit is planned to be available after the first quarter of 2010 with limited production units available within six months. Additional details are not available due to pending patents.
