Mastercam’s Multiaxis Machining Increases
Speed and Finish

Multiaxis machining can dramatically increase a shop’s competitiveness, and Mastercam’s multiaxis machining offers a wide range of multiaxis machining strategies – both basic and advanced.

Mastercam’s Multiaxis machining has many toolpath types, including:

• Machine 5-axis parts using spiral, zigzag, or one way tool motion

• Swarf fanning and swarf machining over multisurface floors keeps the tool edge against the drive surface for a smooth finish

• Multisurface 5-axis roughing and finishing, including depth cuts, plunge roughing and flowline machining

• Minimum tilt control helps prevent tool motion that would cause tool holder collisions

• Special options for machining cylinder heads and converting probe data to machinable geometry

Mastercam’s multiaxis machining gives users complete control over the tool axis, lead/lag, entry/exit, and tilt, which simplifies even the most difficult multiaxis jobs.

New Sequential Valve Gating Solution

Building on more than 15 years of experience, SISE has a new sequential valve gating solution: The IS'TECH.

Among its features:

• Each nozzle's opening and closing can be triggered by any sensor signal, coming from either the mold or the press

• Six mold signals in standard configuration

• Mold recognition plug

• Connection to computer through USB port

• Enhanced quality control system (ex: cycles memorization, cycle time control, screw position, injection pressure)

The system also offers a new Windows-operated monitoring system that increases user-friendliness, gives real-time data display on main page, and measures acquisition system (SQL database management).

New Solution for Direct Side Gating in Medical and Packaging Applications

The new HPS III-MH hot runner nozzle from EWIKON has been designed for demanding applications in the medical or packaging industry and allows gating with a heat conductive tip insert directly onto the part’s surface. This avoids cold slugs in the gate and guarantees a high quality gate vestige.

In the conception stage, EWIKON engineers focused on the most economic integration into the mold as well as easy maintenance. The result is a completely new installation system for the tip inserts. This allows for easy integration in a standard one-piece mold insert and therefore a cost-efficient mold design. The tip inserts are installed from the parting line of the mold in the last assembly step after the nozzle body and the manifold have been installed. Thus, if required they can be exchanged easily without having to dismantle the mold.

The HPS III-MH nozzle is available in two versions. The radial version allows for gating of up to 8 parts simultaneously. The linear version has two rows of four tips with a minimum distance of 11 mm between the cavities. For example, an inline arrangement of three linear nozzles gives 24-drop gating in two rows with a length of less than 180 mm.

New Desktop Scanning & Inspection System

CGI Inspection, developer and manufacturer of the most technologically advanced three dimensional measurement devices in the world, will be demonstrating the Pearl-700, a new desktop 3D scanning and inspection system, at Plastec South, April 28-29, in Charlotte, NC.

The Pearl-700 can significantly reduce the time and expense usually needed to digitize, measure and qualify parts from injection molding tools. This new system uses CGI's proprietary Spec.Check software to establish cross-sections through the 3D point cloud, which is ideal for first article inspection of small complex parts with internal features that can't be seen or measured using conventional technology. The Pearl-700 provides cutting edge accuracy at an affordable price.
